About La Sierra

Sophia is the founder of La Sierra. 

In her time in South America, she has learned about the local Indigenous communities and the Alpaca textiles they make.  She is inspired by the rich history and culture and has found local artisans to work with, to bring their craftsmanship to her home country, Australia. 

A passionate advocate for slow fashion, Sophia captures the stories behind the clothes.  Interweaving the connection between the traditions and the artisans with her personal journey, she highlights the importance of knowing where your clothes come from.

Why Shop La Sierra?

Embracing Fair Trade principles, La Sierra's initiative directly empowers talented artisans based in Peru and Ecuador, enabling them to establish sustainable livelihoods for their families, facilitate access to education for their children, and obtain vital healthcare services for their well-being.

Caring for Alpaca products

You can spot clean any marks with a damp cloth. When it's time for a wash, we recommend gentle hand-washing in cool-tepid water, using a mild detergent, such as Softly for Delicates or baby shampoo.

When rinsed, lay flat to dry.

Do not Dry Clean, NEVER tumble dry and don't wring blankets or scarves out.

Classic scarves, blankets and throws may shed some excess fibre, so can be washed before use. A cold, gentle machine wash is ok for this, then shake out and drape over a clothes horse to dry. Once dry, brush using a clothes brush in the direction of the fibre to remove excess fibre.
